Well, thanks for asking. These products are the result of many design iterations, with three primary goals.
It will keep hot drinks hot for at least 6 hours. Note that you may need occasionally to open the slider briefly to relieve any built-up pressure for hot drinks. Cold drinks will stay cold for at least 12 hours.
Colloquially, we say our insulated Bowls keep hot food hot for 2-3 hours, and cold foods cold for 4 hours. Scientifically speaking - exact performance depends on the starting temperature, the water content of the food, the density of the food, and the overall volume of the food relative to the size of the Bowl—as well as the ambient temperature around it. As you might guess, it really matters whether the Bowl is left with the hot July sun beating down on it or sitting in a cold garage. For a more in-depth consideration of this question, see our blog posts here on this topic. Please follow our tips for maximizing temperature retention and know that you’ve got best-in-class insulation and technology behind these products! As always, though, be smart and safe when it comes to food temperature.
The key to maximum temperature retention is all in the starting details. You can only conserve what is already there.
Not really. Freezing the vessels may damage the vacuum. The more important time to chill the bowl is after you put the food in to ensure that the air around the food in the bowl is chilled. Because of the double-wall and vacuum-insulation, any change to just the exterior prior to putting food in will be negligible. For certain cold foods (shrimp comes to mind), you could put a bed of ice on the bottom of the bowl and place the food on top of the ice for truly stellar performance.
To get the best seal, be sure to have the pitcher slider OPEN when putting the lid on, especially when using it for hot drinks. This allows pressure to escape to get a solid seal. If you're using the pitcher for hot liquids, you may need every so often to open the slider just a bit to release additional pressure that is created from the temperature differential in order to keep the tight seal we all know and love.
We don’t want to say we thought of everything, but we do think the name label on the bottom is pretty clever. No more group texts with a picture of all of the dishes left behind the day after the party! You can either use a permanent marker for, well, a permanent mark, or you can use a chalk marker for something removable. Another fun feature of these insulated serveware products is that you can use a chalk marker on the powder coated portion to write the contents or some other fun message!
Just like with fabrics where each dye lot has some differences, the powder coat finishes will vary ever-so-slightly from batch to batch. Our products are designed to be a collection, where the products are all complimentary, but not necessarily identical.
YES! We are in the process of applying for multiple colleges as we believe our Large Serving Bowls are truly the perfect tailgate solution.
Yes! We are working to build out an entire line of insulated serving dishes. They may not look like it, but these insulated Bowl lids are an engineering marvel. They both seal and vent, and they need to stay on and come off. After a lot of trial and error, we’ve achieved the Goldilocks of lids. The lid won’t come off when you don’t want it to, but, when it’s time, simply break the seal between the lid and the bowl by inserting a fingernail or the handle of a utensil. It takes just the tiniest bit of pressure. Like riding without training wheels, once you get it, you’ll have it for life.
We recommend handwashing. It will better preserve the finish and will ensure no warping due to high temperatures. Try a melamine foam eraser for any scuffs to the finish.
Of course! Simply use the end of a utensil to pop the slider off, thoroughly wash and dry the components and then pop them back into place.
